Our Journey to Liam

Wow; what a loaded post. We are extremely fortunate to be surrounded by amazing family and friends who now know all about our journey to this day. For those of you who don't know all the amazing details, I will provide the 'cliff notes' version. In July 2007 we began to feel led to make some changes in our lives. One particular day filled with many 'Godincidences' led to discussion of adoption. On September 8, 2007 we made the commitment to adopt a child from China. The next 2 years would prove to be filled with a roller coaster of emotions and quite taxing to our faith. The end result has been a family that is well grounded in our faith attempting to live each day for the Lord. Our foundation began to rumble again this past fall and winter as we diverted from our original plan and decided to seek adoption of a special child with needs. Fast forward to the evening of January 25th, 2010 when we layed eyes on the most precious little boy with the biggest brown eyes you have ever seen. The next month would be filled with more emotion than any person should experience in a lifetime. We waited through the month of the Chinese New Year-the year of the Tiger- to learn the fate of this little boy. Early indications of his overall health were mixed. Most of his test results showed a little peanut who struggled with some of his physical development. However, one test result in his medical file caused grave concerns about his health. To so many going through an international adoption, especially through China, this would be the end of the story. Despite having reason to be seriously concerned, our agency was skeptical of being able to get us the information we needed. However, for our little guy, enter one amazing Guardian Angel. Ya see, this little boy lives in an area sponsored by a group called Love Without Boundaries. His angel was instrumental in obtaining the information he/we needed to know what his fate was. Her passion and desire to help was so moving. After all, she tells us, she loves this little boy too. This little boy was part of our family's daily conversations and our nightly prayers. The day of Sunday, February 21, 2010 was filled with extra prayers. That day at church we sang 'Mighty to Save' (see playlist below). As it would turn out our God moved some mountains. The morning of February 22, 2010 we would learn that this little boy did not have a fatal disease after all. His test results the second time revealed normal brain development. Upon having 2 different MRIs read, we would surmise that whomever read them the first time around had simply mis-read them. How we know we had grown through this journey was in our thoughts to adopt this little boy regardless of the outcome of his test results. The subsequent 2 1/2 months has been filled with jumping through those last few hoops for China and preparing our home for a 28 month old. We are traveling to China on May 13, 2010. Our 'forever family day' is May 17, 2010.
